We are thrilled to announce that Lauren Wolk is MRA’s 2024 Children’s Literature Award recipient! Lauren will receive the award on April 25th during the MRA’s 53rd Annual Conference - Liberating Literacies: Stories That Sing!

Lauren Wolk is an award–winning poet, artist, and author. She writes captivating historical fiction for young people including Echo Mountain, Newbery Honor–winner, Wolf Hollow, Scott O’Dell Award-winner Beyond the Bright Sea, and My Own Lightning. Readers, of every age, relate to the characters as they struggle with ethical issues, develop their identities, and muster their courage in the face of adversities. Lauren makes “art with words” and uses the “natural world and the simplicity of the past to remind us of what’s most important.”
