  • Rainbows are pretty

    don’t you see?

They have red, orange, yellow and green, and indigo.

    Lasted at leelst (least)

    Purple!!

Poems from 2nd Grade, Clyde Brown School, Millis, MA

  • One day I'll sail away off the horizon and into the bay.

I'll cross waterfalls, seas, and lakes.

I'll do whatever it possibly takes.

    I'll find my own land

by the pace of the new fallen sand.

I'll be one with the wild

and breathe in the air like a calm little child.

I'll sail from summer to fall to winter to spring

as two little birds softly sing.

I'll be with the birds, the wild and sky

as you quietly watch my life fly by.

You will be with me always

    inside of my heart

    because you cared for me

    at the very first start.

Poems from 4th Grade, Lincoln School, Lincoln, MA

  • BE YOUR OWN PERSON.

    NOTHING ELSE…

YOU CAN BE THE BEST OF YOURSELF.

    DON'T GIVE UP!!

BE WHO YOU ARE NOT WHO YOU WANT TO BE.

    IT IS THE BEST.

DON'T CARE WHAT THE BULLIES SAY BE YOU

    AND DON'T CHANGE,

THE BEST PERSON I KNOW IS YOU,

    AND YOU SHOULDN'T THINK,

    THAT' YOUR NOT THE BEST,

BECAUSE YOUR THE BEST PERSON I KNOW,

    SO STAY HOW YOU ARE.

    AND DON'T CHANGE.

    SO BE YOUR OWN PERSON.

  • Feelings have feelings too;

    So say hello,

    Please don’t ignore them.

    Or else they will creep up on you;

    Consume you;

    Even scare you!

    So, whisper “hi.” To sad.

    Yell “hello!” To mad.

    Giggle “hey!” To silly.

    Breathe “Greetings.” Peace.

    Embrace your feelings;

    And please, please, please!

    Do not push your feelings

    Down;

    Down;

    Down;

To the bottom of your heart.

  • It’s spring

    The birds are chirping

    Wings flapping,

    Rain falling

    The bug are sprawling

    Flowers blooming

    The population is booming

    Lakes are fluids

    And the trees are rooted

  • The sparkling snow you see through the window

The freezing air that chills your hair

The frosty breeze that blows the trees

Winter is the frozen lake that will never break.

  • Giraffe, Giraffe,

    Your loong, purple, tongue

    Makes me laugh.

    Giraffe, Giraffe,

    Your long tall neck

    Is so high,

You can eat from the trees,

    Up in the sky.

    Giraffe, Giraffe,

    The breeze is probably

    A relief to you,

    you must be like,

    “Phew!”

    Giraffe, Giraffe,

    Your tall, spotted neck

    Is so tall,

    you can see it all.

    Giraffe, Giraffe,

    Hello, Hi! Now it's time,

    to say goodbye,

    But I’ll be back

    Soon enough,

    Just wait and see,

    You can trust me…

    Or can you?

  • If we’d just listen, we’d know our world is broken,

People don’t care about our mother, just their wants,

They just care about their money, their cloths, their power, and their life,

Not what our mother needs to stay alive.

But if we just took one look at our world we'd see it’s broken,

If we saw, we might help her as a token of appreciation,

For her effort to give us the life we live in,

We should help our home, our world, our earth, to keep it.

If we stopped for a second to think we’d realize the world is broken,

If we’d stop polluting, stop littering, and stop to think, “Is this good for earth?”

We would know not to let these things slip through our hands that are frozen,

What is the worth of destroying our future for tech, for cars, and for power?

So listen to me for one moment why don’t you,

Our world is dying and I need, we need, your help too,

So please listen for your children, your home, and the future,

Help our home, help the Earth, please, won’t you?

    It’s a mountain I’ll climb,

    It’s something I’ll do,

I’ll be more for the earth.

    Will you?

  • Ever wondered what happens after death

Maybe you fall into a dream

    maybe you go to heaven

    there’s a lot of myths

    and stories

It might sound bad to die

but if you think about it if you lived forever

    you would suffer a lot

You have your time to live

    appreciate it

no one can confirm what happens

    you only have one life

    enjoy it!!!

  • The pond's lily pad is magical.

It brings great luck to your dreams.

As you fall asleep you hear little raindrops falling

from a giant pink cloud and as you open your eyes

you see fireflies and then you see the lily pad and

on top of the lily pad is a white cat.

The cat leads you to a balcony where you can rest

    from stress.

The pond’s lily pad is magical.

And so are you my friend.

  • Drip, drip the sound of Poseidon

sprinkling rain on top of the still water

Ripple, ripple the sound of Apollo

missing his first arrows of the day

Clomp, clomp the sound of Medusa's

victims falling to the ground in gray

Chirp, chirp the sound of Artemis

whispering commands to her fellow animals

  • I’m your favorite color,

    I’m your favorite friend,

    I’m your favorite movie,

    I am is you,

I’m the heaven above your head

    I’m a dream

    When you sleep,

    At night you dream

    And dream a dream,

    When you sleep

    I’m the thing you dream

    And dream

    The stars will align!

    It’s midnight!

    Dreams are shooting stars!

  • The best part

    is eating anything

    you want

    burgers,

    pizza,

    hot dogs,

    but after 7 pm

    Because all day I fast

    not eating,

    not drinking,

    even water

    So 7 pm is

    my cue for

    eating and drinking

    I feel so excited.

  • Spring is here,

    Spring break,

    Spring fun,

    Easter eggs,

    Easter egg hunts,

    The easter bunny,

    Chocolate eggs,

    Chocolate bunnies,

    Flowers,

    April fools day,

    Sunshine,

    Lemonade stands,

    Blossoming Like little flowers,

Hanging out with friends all day long in the sunshine,

    Dandelions,

    Playing with my dog,

    Making memories,

Hanging out with friends and family,

    Candy,

So much chalk on the sidewalk,

    That is spring.

  • i am a poem

make me a wave tall as i trip and fall.. serene

twist me into love as i fly above nor sing

make thou the shake keeping you awake at darks grim

make me as you tremble a slight smile

make me a the floor uncaring soul, face cherry red

make me peace peace as thou sway in tree

write me when i fall free not singing though rhyming

make me watch roses dance in fields as winter clouds

thou will dance as i stay still watching dull rise

make me as tall as a time as nor eye can see

make me serene as a lake smashing crashing walking

    make me what makes you…

    build me what breaks you…

hurt me when it hurts you….

Poems from 4th Grade, Memorial Elementary School, Hopedale, MA

  • Spring, a beautiful season

    Oh my, how many reasons

    Lilies, flowers, plants galore

    Guess what, there's more

You can go to the park and play in the sun

You can play sports or make your own fun

Humid weather, clouds, blue skies, or other

Yikes, eggs from easter, and animals, oh mother

When spring is hot, cold goodies are great

You might even have a playdate, don’t be late

Maybe you will go down a slip and slide

Wow, you’re in for a ride

Hiking or taking a walk would be splendid

If you wear shorts and a t-shirt don’t be offended

Yes, now you know, spring is a great season

    Wait, is there another reason?

  • Fourth Grade was a blast It is now coming to the end at last

I did ELA, Science, Social Studies and Math I am thankful of my own learning path

I learned something new each day And when I did I would shout hooray

I had so many friends and fun activities Yet thankfully no tragedies

My teachers were, caring, kind, and sweet Sometimes after a test at school I would have a treat

My classrooms were full with peers ready to learn And I am excited for 5th grade with a sweet turn

Fourth Grade was the best It is now almost summer and time to rest

Poems from 6th Grade Sippican Elem. School, Marion. MA

  • Why can’t we all just try,

    To be a little kinder?

You never know when you are going

To meet an angel on the streets.

Why can’t we all just try,

    To give a helping hand?

    Sometimes it doesn't even matter

If you don’t get something in return.

Why can’t we all just try,

    To do our very best?

    One person on their own,

    Can make the entire difference.

Why can’t we all just try,

To make the world a better place?

Taking as little as we can

    And sharing what we have.

The world would be so much more beautiful

    If we all just tried.

    Together we can do anything

That we put our minds to.

    So why don’t you try?

    Try something small,

To help a friend or neighbor

    To get through the day.

    You won’t regret it.

    Trust me.

  • Close your eyes,

    And think about all,

All of the many things you have.

    Do you know,

    How fortunate it is,

That you own the things you do.

    Weather it be

    toys,

    Books, love,

    Or life,

You are so lucky to have it.

    Stop thinking about,

    what you don’t possess,

    What other people have,

    And you don’t.

    Stop boasting about,

    What you do have,

    That maybe your neighbor,

    Never will.

Simply just be happy you have love, Have hope,

    Have life,

Have something Life is a gift,

    So don’t turn it down!

    Even if what you got,

May not be nearly as fancy,

    As someone else's.

    You still got something.

Be happy that you are lucky,

    Lucky enough to have something.

  • Some say my obsession is weird

Some snicker when I ask too many questions

But they are the ones who frown when they look down

They are the ones who hope they will do better next time

You can hope, you can wish, you can ask your lucky stars,

But at the end of the day, when you open your eyes you are still frowning down at that one

    paper

From my amazing, shining star papers, to the unfortunate, dreadful tests, I will stick to my hard

    work all through my life

Sure, my grades, my work, and my commitment want to sometimes fly up into the sky,

But I cling them close because I know that when I get that test back,

I want it to shine just as bright as the Sun

Sometimes I ask myself, “Why are you doing this?”

And when I can’t come up with an answer, I begin to doubt myself and I begin spiraling--

I spiral down, down, down, into the deep dooms of stress

Sometimes I feel like I've hit rock bottom,

Like that big tornado spiral has pulled me down too far

But that's when I have to put the brakes on my brain,

And tell myself that this pain,

Someday it will wash down the drain

But you know what always cheers me up?

When I look back at that bright green shining A+

  • Thin brunette hair.

    Uneven Bitten Fingernails.

    Pale skin.

Freckles splattered like brown paint on my skin.

    Pen marks along my hand.

Curtain bangs that won’t swoop to the side no matter how many times I curl them.

    I am gorgeous

    I am intelligent

    I am powerful

    I am silly

    I am imperfectly perfect

    A singer

    A hockey player

That doesn't mean I can’t be the best big sister ever

Sprinting down the ice trying to prevent the other team from scoring.

Not giving up have to keep going

If I keep going, something amazing might happen.

Singing my heart out at a restaurant show

Working the hardest I can to impress everyone that is there.

During a math test the clicking of pencils doesn't bother me

I know if I try my hardest everything will be okay

Getting My report card back seeing good wor

That's when I know being me works

    That's when I know I did well

No matter what I do I will be

    Me

  • Your standard provided

    My body aches when reminded

    I’m divided

    Always changing

    Always masking

    Always invisible

    And I’m unaware.

    Stuck

    Choking

    Gasping

    I suffocate

You fill my lungs with assumption

    And I’m labeled a malfunction

    Unwilling

    And I’m spilling.

    I’m destroyed

    And picked apart

    Dismissed

    You persist

I can’t exist and resist, you insist.

    I can’t prove to you

    Yet my head is overflowing.

    Those levels.

    That standard.

    And I’m the substandard

    Always discarded

    Always too much

    Always trapped forever.

    Those locks

My whole personality can fit in a box.

    Always hiding

    Always covering up.

    Mask it

    Disguise it.

    Yet I still don’t accomplish

    I’m demolished.

    I can’t believe or reach.

I can’t breathe and bleed and achieve

    Never seen.

    I’m unable to succeed.

I belong in the spaces between.

  • People say flag football isn't a girls’ sport

    But it is

    I try my hardest

Last season i got three touchdowns

    I am proud

    I am unique

    A sport is a sport

I tell people to try it

    They say ew and gross

It's not gross in my opinion

    I play what Iwant

    Unique is a word

    But confidence is mine.

  • It’s February

    Black History month

    Some people laugh and joke

    Is it funny though?

    Tubman, Maya, Obama

Those are only a couple names

    We should celebrate

    But we don’t

    I appreciate it but

    Others don't

    It’s your decision to

    Care and you

    Should

    I like the month

    Because it shows me

I love me, me is me

    Brown,strong,faithful, and kind

If I could i would change

    The world

    Make Black History month

    Mean something to

    Other people

    Me is me

    I love me

And i will dream and think big

    When my friends think

    Of me

    I’m

    Weird,funny,silly,and a

    Clutz

    My friends make me feel

    Like I

    Matter

    I love my

    Friends

    They love

    Me

    Black History month

    Me,me,me,

    Braided hair,

    Straight hair,

    Curled hair,

    With different

    Hairstyles it still makes me,

    Me

    Me

    Myself

    And

    I

    Against

    The

    World

    Black History month

    Something I love

    Is that

    Other people

    Appreciate it

    Not more than I do

    Just do

    I have

    A lot of white friends

    And that's fine

    I'm not

    Complaining

    Me

    Me

    Me

    Against

    The

    World

    Won't

    Change

    It

    If

    I

    Dont

    Need

    Too.

  • As the raging snow starts to slow,

And out of her den a fox goes.

As she silently creeps across the snow,

Her magnificent fur is keeping her hidden,

For being eaten must be forbidden

As she travels over the hill tops

    In search for her meal

In time she comes to a berry bush and she stops for a break

When a mystical smell crosses her nose

Then she is up on her toes

She catches her food and then back home she goes

But I will tell you that story another day

Poems from 5th Grade, Paul F. Doyon Memorial School, Ipswich, MA

  • The moon is a balloon,

    The moon is a lagoon,

    The moon is out

    In the afternoon.

  • Life is for having people who you love.

Like my family, my family is here to see me grow,

and I’m getting smarter each year.

I have my life to enjoy it.

We got to enjoy our life spending time with our family because one

day we can’t see them anymore, like they disappear.

Even though it's hard to let our family go, we have to.

Some people are scared to lose their family but you have to be strong.
